Shimano Hyperglide (HG) 12-speed chains have enlarged inner plates designed to work with Dynamic Chain Engagement+ chainrings. This prevents vibrations when the chainring and chain come into contact, resulting in improved chain retention. This design also benefits the shifting and drive efficiency as well as the service life of the chain. HG 12-speed chains are directional, i.e. they have an asymmetrical design and thus a predefined installation direction.

SIL-TEC
SIL-TEC is a fluorine particle-based surface coating from Shimano. It results in smoother, lower friction operation and less contamination. This makes maintenance easier, reduces wear and extends the service life of SIL-TEC components.

The difference between Wattology’s pre-waxed chains and Wattology pre-waxed RACER chains

All the chains we sell are professionally cleaned and hot melt waxed, and all are great for cycling!

RACER chains, however, receive more preparation. The chain goes through our proprietary WSTT® polishing process which makes the sliding surfaces inside the chain smoother. Then we clean out all the WSTT® material residue and the small metal particles from the chain with professional cleaning before the perfectly clean chain goes for a longer hot melt wax bath. After waxing the chain, we have a run-in step to break-in the wax so that you can use the chain for racing straight as you receive it.

What is the 1-year re-waxing subscription?

You will receive the „RE-WAXING CERTIFICATE” with the purchased chain. This subscription gives unlimited*, but sensible number of re-waxing opportunities to you with the following conditions for 1 year (365 days from the day of dispatch):

1. 1. Validity date will be shown on the re-waxing certificate
   2. Offers unlimited number of re-waxing*

 

• Exclusively valid for chains purchased with the re-waxing subscription
• Re-waxing process time: maximum of 6 working days after receiving the chain
• In case the re-waxing service is not possible for any reason attributable to the seller, the customer is entitled to a refund. The refund will be proportionate to the time left from the full subscription time. The full subscription time refund value equals to the list price of the 1-year subscription. Refund is done via bank transfer. Request to be made by the customer via email to info@wattology.eu
• The subscription will end with no refund if the chain gets rusty** or otherwise damaged by misuse by the customer or if the chain got lubricated with a non-wax based lubricant

  * Wattology expects customers to follow the recommended maintenance routine**. In case the chain was used in rain or got wet, the chain will have to be re-waxed***. ** Recommend maintenance routine:

1. Clean the chain after each ride with a dry, clean microfiber rag.
2. After each 350-400 km, clean the chain with a dry microfiber rag and then add one drop of SILCA Super Secret Coating to each chain roller. Move the pedal backwards 12-15 times to help the wax get inside the chain. Let it dry for 10-12 hours.
3. After about 1500-2000 km, we recommend to re-wax the chain in a hot melt wax bath.

*** After a rainy ride or in case the chain got wet for any reason, the following maintenance is recommended:

1. Take the chain off the bike immediately after finishing the ride.
2. Clean the chain with a dry microfiber rag and completely dry the chain with a hairdryer.
3. Cover the chain with a dry rag and send it back for re-waxing (Never put it into a plastic bag! Use safe paper packaging and a cloth to cover the chain.)

How to send your chain for re-waxing?

1. Pack your chain carefully
2. Fill in the RE-WAXING CERTIFICATE
3. Put this certificate into the packaging
4. Send the pack to the following address with a reliable courier company
